Where our meat comes from

Our cattle:

Our cows are sourced from a variety of West Country farms, which all rear specific breeds of cows for us. Our main breeds are the Ruby Red, British Whites. They are all free-range and our farmers are part of the Quality Farm Assured scheme.

Our venison:

Venison, and game birds, when in season, will be shot by us on our shoot outside Bath. The roe deer will come from Eastrocks Woodland, Calne, or Midford valley, near Bath. Pheasants, mallard, partridges and pigeons from a number of local, small shoots, and grouse from the highlands. Rabbits and hares are sourced from a local game dealer and shot on nearby estates.

Our pigs:

All our pigs are free range and the Berkshire breed, which are sourced from local farms. Their traditional farming methods with a mix of livestock and crops allow him to produce fabulous pork that has been reared in a sustainable and ethical manner, as certified by RSPCA Freedom Foods.

Our Lamb:

Our free-range lambs, the Texel breed. graze on a grass and chicory combination and are also fed turnips to add a sweetness to the meat, as well as achieving the optimum fat covering.

Our Chickens:

Our Free Range Cotswold Whites are sourced from a farm near Radstock. They are free to roam the fields with comfortable spacious sleeping quarters too! They are fed non GM foods, on a slow and natural rearing plan.
